NW Age Group Sectionals -- Day 1 Results

The Thunderbolts are off to a good start at the Northwest Sectional Championship meet.  Day 1 (Mar 19) notable results:

  • 100 Breaststroke:
    Girls (10U): Angela Liu finished 2nd (1:22.00);
    Girls (13): Tiffany Zhao finished 2nd (1:09.49);
    Girls (14): Charlene Yuan finished 6th (1:08.84).
    Boys (10U): Anthony Nosack finished 2nd (1:18.21); Alex Young finished 7th (1:25.06).
    Boys (12):
    Cortlandt Nelsen finished 1st (1:07.79). 

  • 50 Freestyle:
    Girls (10U):  Iseult McMahon finished 6th (29.39).
    Girls (11): Wendy Wang finished 8th (27.33);

    Girls (13):
    Prudence Rooker (13) finished 1st (23.99), setting a new Thunderbolt team record(old record: 2001, 24.20, Anne Liggett);
    Girls (14):  Michelle Cefal (14) finished 4th (24.25).
    Boys (11): Paolo Casas finished 3rd (27.03);
    Boys (12): Alex LaRosa (12) finished 2nd (24.99); David Spurgeon (12) finished 5th (25.61);
    Boys (15-18): Philip Kapelac (16) finished 4th (22.85) and Eric Chang (15) finished 10th.

  • 100 Backstroke:
    Boys (10U):
    Anthony Nosack finished 2nd (1:08.48).
    Boys (12): 
    Alex LaRosa finished 3rd (1:00.36).

  • 200 Butterfly:
    Boys (12): 
    Cortlandt Nelsen finished 3rd (2:17.27); Paolo Casas finished 6th (2:24.48);
    Boys (14): Jacob Weitzel finished 4th (2:00.94); Jonathan Zoucha finished 9th and Josh Noll finished 10th.

  • 200 Medley Relay:
    Girls (11-12):
    The team of Emily Cheng, Megan Lam, Christin Young and Laura Epperson finished 6th (2:02.17).
    Girls (13-14):
    The team of Charlene Yuan, Tiffany Zhao, Michelle Cefal and Prudence Rooker finished 5th (1:50.99).
    Boys (11-12):
    The team of Alex LaRosa, Cortlandt Nelsen, Paolo Casas and David Spurgeon finished 1st (1:53.42).  This time sets a new Thunderbolt team record (old record: 2010, 1:54.39).
    Boys (13-14): The team of Jackson Wahl, Andrew Yoon, Jacob Weitzel and Benjamin Buchalski finished 2nd (1:43.63). 
    This time sets a new Thunderbolt team record (old record: 2009, 1:44.32).
    Boys (15-18): The team of Byron Held, Nathan Holt, Philip Kapelac and Eric Chang finished 1st (1:43.77).
